Blueberries Are Healthy!

Mom: Did you know blueberries are so good for you they make you strong?
Asha: Healthy too!
Mom: Where did you learn that word
Asha: It’s english!

I made a yummy Blueberry Almond Quick Bread this morning from one of the Moosewood cookbooks. I don’t know why I have an urge to bake when it’s 87 degrees F with 90% humidity making it feel more like 91 deg. It think I might tweak the recipe a little next time to make it a tad bit denser. It was sweeter than I expected since it was chock full of healthy grains like whole wheat, oatmeal, flax seeds and pecans. There was only a small amount of brown sugar and applesauce.

I love summer…now

Fall used to be my favorite season. Well I guess it still is, I just can’t seem to find it in Upstate NY. All I find is rain, rain and more rain. Now that summer is in full swing I think I am loving it.

How could you not love the summer when you have these two beautiful people to share it with?

The first day was cold, windy and gloomy. Like every other day in Upstate NY.

The sun did show up for sunset. See the kids in the background? They were crazy enough to jump in the water. Air temperature had to be about 60 deg. F.

The wind was bitingly cold.

A Few Uninvited Guests

Can we have one full week of good health?  It doesn’t seem to be in the near future.  This time we are all sick, together.  Luckily and unfortunately only Asha has a stomach virus, so far.  Nat and I are just recovering from a full blown head cold.  Hopefully we are immune to the little buggers in her tummy.
